Lucy Project

Since October I've been working on illustrating a book, which I've been calling the "Lucy Project".
In the fall of 2015 in the back of my grandparents barn, I found the diaries of a woman named Lucy who lived there over a hundred years ago. In the time since then I have found countless other items - letters, poems, drawings, and things from daily life in the late 1800s. For the past few months I've been illustrating these things, based on her diaries and other writings. I'm up to over 50 illustrations!

Recent Projects

About a year ago I started doing nature journaling on a daily basis as a way to get outside more and to help get through the winter.  Here are a few views from that project - to see more please visit my page at https://www.instagram.com/aimeejeanart/

Pages from my Sketchbook - March

Playing with old fashioned dip pens and various inks this month.
I've tried India ink, iron gall ink, walnut ink and sumi ink, and I have learned that the type of paper is just as important as the type of ink.  Here are a few of my favorite doodles and one of my test pages.
(practicing my cursive writing too by copying poems)
